Find a PTE Test Centre in Australia and Check Live Dates

Use Pearson's official test-centre finder, compare live appointments and check travel, ID and deadline details before booking.

Use Pearson's live centre finder, select the exact PTE test you need, then compare available appointments with the time and cost of reaching each centre. Search results, map listings and old blog posts can show centres that no longer offer your test.

Availability is live, so compare complete journeys

Pearson's official booking flow is the source for current centre and appointment availability. Compare at least two workable centres if your deadline is tight. The nearest centre is not always the safest choice: check the exact address, arrival route, opening and appointment time, transport disruption risk and whether an overnight stay is sensible. Do not rely on a third-party list for a centre's current status or dates.

Start with the official finder

Open Pearson's test centres and fees page, choose your test and enter the location where you want to sit it. Pearson says its availability tool shows the nearest centre and next available slot. A centre may offer PTE Academic but not PTE Core, or have different dates for each test, so confirm the product name before choosing.

If your purpose is Canadian permanent residence or citizenship, check that you selected PTE Core. PTE Academic is used for study, Australian and New Zealand visa purposes and some professional registration. The Academic and Core comparison explains the distinction.

Compare more than distance

The closest centre is not always the lowest-risk option. Check:

  • the full street address and local appointment time
  • public transport or parking before an early start
  • the live fee and payment currency
  • whether your passport will remain valid on test day
  • enough preparation time before the appointment
  • enough time after the test for score processing and your application deadline

Availability can change while you decide. Treat a date as provisional until payment is complete and the booking appears in myPTE.

Worked example: choosing between two centres

Leila finds two fictional options for PTE Academic. Centre A is 18 kilometres away and has a 7.00 am appointment next Tuesday. Centre B is 42 kilometres away and has an 11.30 am appointment in three weeks.

Centre A looks closer, but the first public transport service would arrive too late for check-in. She would also have only six study days. Centre B requires a longer trip, but she can arrive at least 30 minutes early and complete two more weeks of focused practice.

Her decision should not be based on kilometres alone. She checks the exact centre address, calculates door-to-door travel, confirms the fee at checkout and chooses the appointment she can reach reliably.

Before you pay

Compare the booking details with your identity document. Pearson's general policy requires booking details to match the accepted ID, including name, date of birth, citizenship and gender. If your passport is being replaced, wait for the new document before booking rather than guessing its details.

Also read the current change policy before paying. If your plans are uncertain, use the PTE rescheduling guide to understand when an appointment can be moved and what to check in myPTE.

After booking

Save the confirmation and verify the centre, date, local time and test type. Add the centre address and required arrival time to your calendar. Plan a backup travel route, but do not assume a late arrival will be accepted.

Choose the appointment only after confirming that its travel and preparation windows are realistic.
