You can reschedule a PTE appointment for free only when more than 14 full calendar days remain before the booked time. At 14 days or less, Pearson removes the Reschedule option: cancel under the separate refund policy and make a new booking. One appointment can be rescheduled no more than six times. Check the new confirmation because viewing a slot does not complete the change.
How to move an eligible appointment
Sign in to the myPTE account used for the booking. Open the appointment in your dashboard and select Reschedule. Review the new test name, centre, date, local time and any amount shown before confirming.
Do not create another account to work around a booking issue. Pearson advises candidates to use one myPTE account, and duplicate accounts can delay booking or scores.
The deadline boundary matters
Pearson's policy uses full calendar days:
- More than 14 full calendar days left: rescheduling is free.
- 14 days or less left: normal rescheduling is unavailable. Cancel and book again.
- A single appointment can be rescheduled no more than six times.
The cancellation outcome is separate from rescheduling eligibility. Read the cancellation guide before replacing a near-term appointment because the amount returned depends on its own deadline band.
Why the Reschedule button may be missing
The two official reasons listed by Pearson are that the test is in 14 days or less, or the appointment has already been rescheduled six times. First check the appointment date and your booking history. Also confirm that you signed into the account that holds the booking.
If none of those explains the problem, use Pearson Customer Support. Take a screenshot of the dashboard and keep the booking reference, but do not send passport images through an unverified channel.
Worked example: 15 days versus 14 days
Ben's fictional appointment is at 9.00 am on 30 October. He checks myPTE at 9.00 am on 15 October, with 15 full days remaining, and sees the Reschedule option. He can choose another available date without a rescheduling fee.
Mina checks the same appointment time at 9.00 am on 16 October, when exactly 14 days remain. The button is absent. The policy does not place her in the free rescheduling window because it requires more than 14 full calendar days. If she cannot attend, she must cancel, accept the applicable refund and pay for a new appointment at the live price.
This is why counting from a rough phrase such as "two weeks" is risky. Use the exact appointment date and act early.
Emergencies
For illness or a family emergency, Pearson may allow a free change at its discretion. Evidence is required and there is no automatic right to rebook or receive a refund. The emergency request must be submitted within the policy window, including no later than 72 hours after the appointment.
Pearson links the emergency request form from its cancellation and rescheduling policy. After moving the test, save the new confirmation and recheck your ID details.
